I write this with a heavy heart. Mark King lost his battle with cancer on July 6. He passed away in his sleep. He is now with Linda selling planes to all the angels in heaven. Keep flying Mark!
Mark was a great friend, Pilot, builder, and gave love and support to Evan. I remember Mark as someone that was all into himself, until I got to know him. He showed me so much. He gave me many flying tips and lessons. Showed me the ins and outs of building planes. Most of all how to do repairs. He was a great man! My first trip to Joe Nall, him and Linda were there. Not knowing what to expect, I took everything in with a grain of salt. My first night there, Rod tells me we are going to the 3D line and Marks tent for dinner. Linda had anything you can think of for food. Burgers, dogs, brauts, with all the sides. Linda and Mark fed about ten of us that night. We stayed there and watched the night flyers. the next morning I get woken up by the sound of a big gasser. I get out of the camper, and the mighty beast is cutting holes in the light fog rising off the grass. This was 6AM in the morning. He tells me the morning air is always the best to catch, and you have all the airspace you want. Next morning I met him there for a 6AM flight.
Mark, you will be missed. We had our disagreements, yet we always laughed them off. You were there for me when I bought the farm with one of my beginner planes and said to come to the shop. You got me back in the air.
As you look down over Wawayanda, I will think of you and the Beast.
Fly High Mark. You are missed.
Pete
