Can You ID This Plane?

Postby Mike55 » Fri Jul 09, 2021 1:17 pm

Hello Everyone.
Attached are some pictures of one of the planes I acquired in an estate purchase.
WS is 54", has an OS 61 on it, mid wing, but wing is part of the Top Canopy.
Fairly heavy, didn't weigh it yet, went over everything, looks good,
Looking to balance it. there is lots of room under the wing for Battery & rcvr.
Going by rule of thumb, I could balance it at point of greatest wing thickness.
Any ID assistance, or advice on balancing CG?
Thanks in advance.
Mike

Usually 1/3 of the way back on the wing will get you in the ball park, good enough to fly. It is an interesting plane with that canopy / wing set up.
It's a good day for flying!

Nalby: Looks like you hit it spot on!!!
Every detail I could compare to the plans matched up exactly.
The CG on the plans is right where I was going to shoot for.
Thanks for the response.

Yes, it looks like a Midwest Super Hots 60. I had one years ago with a KB60 glow and then replaced the engine with a SuperTiger 60. It has a thick wing and flew very well. I learned to fly with it in the old days.
